We went to the Tampa International Plaza mall today for some End-Of-2012 shopping.
These two pictures were taken about five minutes apart. Not that it was ever in doubt but Apple’s holiday is going to be quite a bit brighter than Microsoft’s. There was such a long line at the Apple store that it took us 30 minutes to buy one new iPhone 5. There was no one at the Microsoft/Dell store. But they did have comfy couches.
Was talking about this with Emma and Doug last night, and Apple is a bit in a rut, isn’t it? Sure, product improvements, etc., but after reading more about Google Fiber, and Google’s total relentlessness on innovating total new product areas (Cars, glasses), I’m getting a bit fed up with my hero…

If you’ve been watching the Olympics, chances are that by now, you’ve caught at least one of Apple’s new TV ads for its Macbook laptops. If not, consider yourself spared.
The spots themselves aren’t exactly nauseating, just strangely disappointing when compared to Apple’s classic back catalog of commercials — the marketing equivalent of Michael Phelps’ fourth-place finish in the 400 IM.
I may be over 3,000 miles away but thanks to FaceTime I can spend some time with Chloe before she goes to bed.
